Charming Summer - Photographing Knightsbridge

Knightsbridge has long been one of London's most tourist-friendly destinations with its large hotels and shops, most famously Harrods department store.

The area, just west of the centre of London, is within easy walking distance of Hyde Park, and is also a neighbour to the super-smart district of Kensington and Chelsea. There are myriad Knightsbridge hotels to choose from if you're planning a weekend trip. The key is to find somewhere that allows you to walk straight out and enjoy the sights - Millennium Hotels has several properties in the area, and with discounts for stays of three nights or more.

Those who choose to stay in Knightsbridge and are looking to take snaps will no doubt head to Harrods - in the summer it's a great place to get shots as the dark sets in.

You can also take a wander through the charming streets and mews of the area - Knightsbridge architecture is relatively unchanged from its days of high-ceilinged Edwardian and Victorian townhouses.

Some excellent streets for walking in the summer are Basil Street, SW1 and Trevor Street, SW7. They give you a taste of the difference between the quieter residential areas and the busier, restaurant-and-bar type places.

Travelling back east towards Piccadilly Circus you set yourself up for some great time-lapse night time shots of the lights and traffic at the Circus; and on to the West End where you can do some great people watching outside the theatres and bars - which will be especially packed during summer.
